South Mountains State Park, North Carolina

Tucked away 18 miles south of Morganton, NC lies South Mountains State Park. It is s hidden gem, that was almost without visitors yesterday. It has lovely riverside trails, picnic areas and beautiful 80 foot High Shoals Falls.

You can check out my images from the park at Tom Mosher Photography

The Quiet Side Of Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee is the most visited national park in the US system, with over 9 million visitors in 2010. If you want to escape to a quite spot in the park, check out the Big Creek area on the eastern side of the park within North Carolina. This is one of my favorite areas. An old logging road follows Big Creek to Midnight Hole and Mouse Creek Falls, which is only 2 miles from the trail head.

You can see my pictures from recent trip to this beautiful area at Tom Mosher Photography

I have created a new Collection with pictures I have taken in many of the U.S. National Parks that I have traveled through, on my website Tom Mosher Photography. I hope you enjoy the scenic beauty of these national treasures.
