Amazing Antarctica
It's been a while since my last post, but I've recently returned from Antarctica. It's such an amazing, unspoiled place. The picture below is of Weincke Island. You can see four galleries of my pictures from Antarctica at

MUSEUM OF APPALACHIA
I came across the interesting Museum of Appalachia in Clinton, Tennessee last week. The property has 36 log buildings dating from the 1790's and forward, that were relocated to their current location. Visitors can wander through former blacksmith shops, cabin dwellings, barns, a school, a church and a saw mill.
Two large buildings exhibits of artifacts dating from pioneer times up through the 1940's. These include a large selection of musical instruments and highlight some famous musicians from Appalachia, children's toys, quilts, baskets, tools, firearms, clothing and other items in common use.
There is a modest admission fee which is well worth it. A café on the property is reputed to have delicious food. The property is also the home of sheep, peacocks, horses and one friendly cat.
The museum is located at 2819 Andersonville Highway, Clinton Tennessee; which is about 16 miles north of Knoxville. Museum of Appalachia is part of the Smithsonian Affiliation Membership Program.
This will be my last post for a couple of months, as I will be at sea for the next 6 weeks.

Land Of Waterfalls
In the heart of Transylvania County, North Carolina, "Land of Waterfalls", lies DuPont State Forest. It has five beautiful waterfalls within it's boundaries as well as many rivers and streams and lots of hiking trails. Check out pictures from my trip there yesterday here.
